The water quality of both the engine cooling water and the heating network is of great importance for the economic and safe operation of biogas plants with combined heat and power plants (CHP).

The use of untreated water in the heating network can lead to the formation of deposits due to hardness deposits or biofilm formation, and thus to a reduction in heat transfer. This can reduce efficiency, especially in the heat exchangers for engine cooling, and damage can result from local overheating.

With our service for monitoring, cleaning and treating the circuit water, we support you in maintaining the value of your system.


  • Cooling water treatment to protect against corrosion damage and the formation of deposits with the ODACON products:

  • ODACON Z*/10: ready-mixed cooling water with corrosion inhibitor

  • ODACON P: Ready-to-use cooling water mixture with corrosion inhibitor and antifreeze down to -30 °C

  • Cleaning, disinfection and de-oiling of engine cooling circuits to safely remove calcareous, organic or oily deposits

  • Preservation of the cooling circuit during shutdown times to protect against standstill corrosion

  • Cleaning the table cooler from air-side deposits


In order to use the waste heat from the CHP plants and thus optimize their efficiency, they are usually linked to a local district heating supply or connected to district heating networks. To protect against corrosion and deposits, we support our customers in checking and treating the heating water in accordance with VDI 2035 and AGFW worksheet 510.


  • Water-chemical analysis of heating water with regard to water content and organic pollution such as legionella

  • Filling of circuits with heating water according to VDI 2035 using mobile water treatment systems

  • Delivery of heating water in the IBC container for filling

  • Delivery of water treatment agents for boiler systems and heating networks to adjust the pH value, stabilize hardness, bind oxygen and protect against corrosion during operation and when idle (preservation)

  • Sales and rental of water treatment systems for the initial filling or topping up of heating networks according to VDI 2035

  • Softening of heating water in operation without system downtime or emptying by means of partial flow treatment

When operating with untreated water, deposits can form, especially in the heat exchangers, which severely impede the heat transfer. These can be hard deposits, but also corrosion products or biofilms.

To restore optimal heat transfer and thus efficient system operation, we carry out chemical cleaning on all types of heat exchangers, in particular:

  • plate heat exchanger

  • shell and tube heat exchanger

  • exhaust gas heat exchanger

  • Intercooler and mixture cooler

Cleaning can be carried out on site when installed (CIP) or on removed exchangers or individual plates in our workshop.


  • Preservation of pipelines to protect against corrosion during downtimes and to reduce the formation of deposits during operation

  • Chemical cleaning of pipelines to remove organic residues, eg fermentation substrate, using biodegradable cleaning agents
